Looking for a Jimi Hendrix track/CD

During the last burn I dropped in on a random camp with a bar, great music and a dance floor. Soon afterwards I heard this really groovy bluesy track that seemed to go on forever and learned that it was a Jimi Hendrix tune. I don't remember the name of it or if vocals came in later or not but I want this tune. Since then I have spent a ton of time online looking for it and purchased 3 Jimi Hendrix CD's as well but still have not located the track that I am looking for.
All I remember is that in addition to the name of the track I was told to make sure that I got the extended version with a running time of 6:58 (not sure about the running time).
Does anyone know the song that I am looking for and/or which CD I can find it on?

K&D Sessions mislabel on disc four... anyone know how it effects value?

I am holding on the purchase of an ebay record from a great seller. I finally got a copy of the 4xlp of the K&D Sessions.

Wax four is the correct piece.. sides G / H. But the label has it as Disc 3, E / F.

How does this effect value? Up or down? Is this a lame mistake, or is this something that is recorded and recognized. Have other people run into it? Should it put me off buying the record as a collector? As a DJ... if it has the playable tracks, it has the playable tracks. Just would like others' opinion.

And.. Hi. I am new.

What about records that have misprinted 33rpm and 45 rpm labels... where it says one and plays the other? I have the Bobby Hughes remix of Get Carter, and it says 45 when it is really 33. That happens all the time, I assume... and was wondering if it means anything at all for the price of the record.

And is there a rare CD database?

swapping out records between identical albums

I have three identical albums... all 4xlp.

Assuming they are all the same release cycle, is it problematic swapping out single lp's so that I can make a VG+, VG and VG- set?

Meaning... I want to swap them around so I have the best all together... etc.

Is there anything that would create a problem in reselling them? Like mismatched serial #'s or anything?

I read that the "Name of the Band is Talking Heads" live album is due to be released on CD for the first time this month.

I'm unfamiliar with this album, but have heard that it's top-notch. Any opinons?

Also, I already own Stop Making Sense. Is is good enough that I should own two Talking Heads live albums or should I favor one over the other?

What is the best source for evaluating collectable records? Goldmine guides are pretty good as a basic place to start from but, with stuff like ebay and Gemm.com when do these price guides start to become semi obsolete? There's stuff on ebay going for crazy prices but if you look up some of these same records in the guides they're worthless. Has anybody found a really reliable source for estimating values? I've tried gemm.com but it seems bogus to me and the stuff never seems to sell. Any ideas?

Hey, on Friday last week Ray Manzerek came into our shop and was unnoticed by all but our crew. I happened to have the only Doors LP in the entire store (on hold in my box) a mono copy of "the Doors" in vg+ condition. I approached him a bit nervous as I did not want to bother him... except to get him to sign my record... I'll say that he was the nicest, most polite friendly legend I've ever met and he was engaging and thankful for me approaching him, we shook hands and that record sounds better than ever. Of course sombody had to dork out and put on that record while he was still in the store... record nerds what's with those guys??

So this may be petty... But I hate when somebody buys like 10 items from me on ebayt and then uses the "pay now with Paypal" button on each auction. Since Paypal charges the flat fee with each transaction, its sometimes costs me $2-$3 off of a single purchase!

The point is it's not necessarily the worst record ever, but it it to you for a particular extra reason. Mine is James "Sit Down" OK I'm English so I don't know if you know it, but the reasons apart from it's pure blandness are
a. it's shit MOR mascarading as hip indie bollocks
b. it was played in every club on every "student night" for the whole damn five years I was at university
c. It really is hideously crap but people liked it
d. People used to SIT DOWN when it came on..because it's called Sit Down, how very revolutionary and original
God I'm getting annoyed just thinking about it!

Strangest Record

What's the strangest record in your collection? You know, the one that you saw in the racks (or at the garage sale) which looked so damn weird you just had to get it?

I found this album at a garage sale in my hometown by a Tejano duo called Los Dinos. The two guys on the cover were wearing purple velour Nehru jackets and one was holding a bajo sexto. The song titles included "La Polka Sicodelica." Cost me $0.25 and in hindsight I would've paid up to $7 for it. iMuy bueno!

Album longest in you possession?

Didn't quite know how to word that. Just changed my main photo to the album that I am pretty sure I've owned the longest. I cannot remember a time when I didn't have Snoopy and His Friends the Royal Guardsmen. The writing you see on it is me practicing. It's also the inspiration for my next theme bike. I know the first album ever bought for me was The Point by Nilsson, and the first albums I bought were C'est Chic by Chic and Love Gun by Kiss in 1978- both on the same trip, hence my musical eccentricity.

Best $1 Buys Ever

Some of the best records I ever bought were out of the Buck Bin. I got Painters & Dockers "Love Planet" (An Australian punk band with a great sense of humor) and Safety Last (A Minneapolis Rocakbilly band on Twin Tone Records... The same label as the Replacements!) How bout y'all?

Cool Record Shops

So wha are the cool record shops in your town? The first thing I do when I travel is check out the local stores and I want to start a "visit" list.

In Columbus OH:

USED Kids is the "famous" store on the OSU campus. They actually price there stuff pretty reasonably.

My Friend Kyle runs Lost Weekend Records in Clintonville. Its a tiny narrow store and he seems to have a story about every record in the store.

Goldmine Records is a pretty cool little hole-in-wall. The dude who owns it lives in the store with his dog and two cats. I feel bad because my cat allergies prevent me from going to his shop much.

CD's...collectable or no?

I bought a copy of Mercury Rev Boces off some guy for $15. He claimed it was out print and he needed the money. I thought I could probably score an autograph for it and then it might be cool...but the question is: are CD's ever "collectible"? Once the music has been digitally preserved for eternity, does it have any value outside the pure listening pleasure???

Has anybody ever gotten rid of a record and lived to regret it?

When i first got into spinning Techno and House in 1993 I sold a lot of cool records to buy techno 12"s at the store that I work at now and every once in a while I remember one that i wish I still had... (Ken found one of them for me...) the Who's "Who's Missing" Anybody else let a good record go?

So I warmed y'all up with the softball buck bin question, but now I want to know the truth about how much of a record nerd you are. What's the most you ever paid for a record and which record was it?

(I ask because I'm fairly clean... $25 for Teenage Head's first LP and $30 for the "Girl Can't Help It" picture disc with Jayne Mansfield on one side and Gene Vincent on the other. Hubba Hubba.)

1) The Top Secret Soundtrack. I haunted Ebay and soundtarck bins for over 10 years to find it! Then paid waaay to much.

2) Ramonesmania: Everybody needs a copy and I got mine.

3) Joey Scarbury's Greatest American Hero: See M'man Pauls' post

4) Replacement's Hootenany. Someone once stole my copy and it took a lot of time and money to get another one.

5) Teenage Head's 1st LP. (Cue the string section...) Makes me think of the gal I loved and lost.

Hey Guys-- Where do you guys buy your supplies? (Mailers, Cleaners, Frames, Etc.) I do http://www.bagsunlimited.com and an expensive local dude in a pinch, but would like some more resources. Websites that specialize in selling turntables would be cool, too!

tons of 70's electronica starting with Walter Carlos. King Crimson imports, Henry Cow, Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, Wire, Residents, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Young Marble Giants. I also have a ton of early punk...got to spend late 70's and early 80's hanging out in the NY area.

I also have some really old stuff that I got from my mom and grandmom...cylinder records (but I can't play them), old shellac 78's and old mono jazz.

I dunno...I can go on from there.
