I've been looking for a reasonable price for the 45 for Nerves - Hanging on the telephone for about a year now. Check out the price for this one...and the first song on both sides are messed up!

Re: nerves
Fri, May 13, 2005 - 5:40 PMI've always had a rule, never buy something you'll have a hard time selling one day. Warped vinyl is always a hard sell, I'd stay away!
Plus, Murphys Law, as soon as you buy that for $44 another one will pop up in mint for $20. -

Re: nerves
Fri, May 13, 2005 - 6:11 PMThere is no way I'm going to buy that EP! I'm hoping to find one between the 20-30 dollar range....but I know it's worth more

Sat, May 14, 2005 - 10:52 AMi was a record geek back then...and it was not around even new. i would jump on whatever copy you find cuz there can't be many. you don't need it to listen to anyway. Rhino has it on CD. -

Re: nerves
Sat, May 14, 2005 - 12:30 PMyeah, there's a sucker born every minute. do not pay top dollar for anything unless it's in perfect condition. Otherwise you are screwed if and when you try to re-sell it.
There are exceptions - I paid 30 bucks for a beat to shit BOKAJ RETSIEM (obscure weird german 60's psych record with lots of guitar solos panning back and forth - the band name is 'Jakob Meister' spelled backwards) because it was worth hundreds in good condition, but then it came out on CD a couple years ago - so again - beware.

Re: nerves
Wed, May 18, 2005 - 7:50 PMthe whole issue is if you are dying to have it...why not drop 40 for it. its not like you won't drop 40 bucks on a bar tab so what difference does it make if you spend it on some vinyl. besides, if there is a sucker born every minute, it shouldn't be too hard too unload it if you change your mind. a friend of mine sold a copy of highway 61 revisited with the newer red label for $50 just so such rich bastard could hang it in his media room. -

Re: nerves
Wed, May 18, 2005 - 8:46 PMActually, I would probably buy it if "Hanging on the telephone" was in perfect playing condition. I don't care if the other songs are messed up!
I just wanted to play it at a club I dj at! I'll probably just buy that rhino comp you mentioned earlier.....
I rarely spend more than 30-40 dollars on vinyl...only when I get that dying to have it mentality! I've been getting more into '70s power pop lately... I've also been buying alot of '60s french pop ep's! -

Re: nerves
Sat, May 21, 2005 - 10:21 AMThe Rhino compilation is called DIY. I actually bought that Cheap Trick single thats on it when it first came out. It prompted violent reactions from the classic rock hippies until Cheap Trick suddenly became fashionable. Who knows. -

Re: nerves
Mon, May 30, 2005 - 2:14 PMLet me recommend a store that a buddy of mine owns. Its called "Blue Meanie Records", it's in the mid-west; the number is 870-698-9234. The guy who owns the store is named Gary. He does record shows all over the world, he's in Spain this weekend. So he finds lots of incredible things.
Call his shop if you're still looking for the Nerves ep.

Re: nerves
Thu, June 2, 2005 - 10:48 AMThanks! I will be buying all those DIY compilations! There are songs on each comp that I'm looking for that are really hard to find...even on CD! I like how each one has a scene from a different city... -

Re: nerves
Sat, July 9, 2005 - 4:27 AMok...this is kinda strange. For my birthday last night, a friend gave me a 10" of that same single by the Nerves that was put out by some record company in spain. How come I didn't hear about this? Anyways, I'm just glad I have it! Originals....re-issues...I don't really care! All I care about is artwork and good recordings of bands that I like! -

Re: nerves
Thu, July 28, 2005 - 8:15 PMPenniman Records puts Reissues a lot of good 70s era pop punk type stuff... They have some Fun Things and Nervous Eaters records too!
